It is very important to make it clear that family courts have to agree to marry same-sex couples. The court said that judges cannot deny marriage to a couple for personal reasons. That is clear, but we have to take the first step to make it visible. Family courts are obligated because it is the couple's right to get married."
On New Year’s Eve, 'Queer Eye for the Straight Guy' hair guru Jonathan Van Ness revealed he's recently tied the knot with his 'best friend.' HuffPost reports People and other outlets have identified Mark Peacock as Van Ness's new spouse. Van Ness's Instagram post didn't name Peacock--a filmmaker and London native--specifically. Still, it drew enthusiastic responses from a number of famous pals, including other 'Queer Eye' stars like Karamo Brown and Tan France. Van Ness is genderqueer and nonbinary. He was previously in a relationship with Wilco Froneman. The pair split in December 2018.
Two straight friends named Michael O'Sullivan and Matt Murphy married each other in Dublin last week to avoid paying an inherence tax on the latter's property . The grooms have been friends for almost 30 years, and Michael is now Matt's carer. Matt doesn't have any next of kin, and wanted to hand down his house to Michael without paying any penalties.
A very rare story unfolded in the British county of Kent last weekend. A couple renewed their wedding vows in Ospringe on Thursday, but this time as wife and wife. While nothing about this story appears surprising at first glance Kristiana and Denise Taylor married first in 1996, when Kristiana was still a man named Stephen. Denise and Kristiana, who was then named Stephen, married as husband and wife in Newcastle and lived together this way for 16 years. Stephan even fathered a son with Denise, whom the couple also named Stephen, until the Stephan Senior transitioned in 2012. Denise supported the change and the rest is history. The two first got together in Newcastle in 1996 when Kristiana was a man. Later, Kristiana would go on to decide that she wanted to transition to being a woman, and her wife Denise supported the decision. The couple renewed their vows after all stages of the transition operation were finished. The couple's son, Stephen, walked the two down the aisle, with friends and family coming together to celebrate the pair's happiness in their new life.
