Around one thousand tractors are expected to block the city centre of Poznan in Poland in protest against EU measures to tackle climate change. Polish farmers are blocking roads and staging protests at border checkpoints with Ukraine, in a new wave of protests against farming imports from the neighbouring war-torn country. IMAGES

Images show refugees arriving in the south-eastern Polish city of Przemyśl near the Ukrainian border where members of the Polish authorities and volunteers are waiting to greet them. With 756,303 refugees in Poland according to the UNHCR, the country is hosting by far the largest number of refugees fleeing Ukraine since the start of the Russian invasion. IMAGES
Eyewitnesses who have fled Mekelle, the capital of Ethiopia's Tigray region, is under fierce bombardment. CNN reports a communications blackout in the region has made reporting on claims from both sides difficult. About half a million residents live in Mekelle. UNICEF says roughly half of them are children. More than 43,000 Ethiopian refugees have crossed into neighboring Sudan since fighting began on November 4th. The number of people internally displaced inside Tigray is growing daily. According to the UNHCR, the pre-existing refugee camps in the region only have food supplies to last three days.
In the latest of such incidents at Prospect Park Lake in Brooklyn, New York, a mysterious stranger released exotic wildlife there, then walked away. According to HuffPost, a witness said he saw a man dragging two large bags to the shoreline, of what appeared to be wriggling snakes. The man dumped bags of live eels into the water. Officials identified them as swamp eels native to Southeast Asia, which have been found in at least eight states. New Yorkers free thousands of non-native animals every year. Most die quickly, but some survive, reproduce and end up causing lasting harm. People like animals and they sometimes think they’re doing a good thing by letting them go. Most will die. New York state and city officials say it’s too soon to know how the eels in Prospect Park might affect local species. Eels can become voracious eaters, though.
Hundreds of people arrive in Beni from the city of Mangina, in eastern DR Congo, after at least eight civilians were killed and another 20 reported missing on Friday, in the latest massacre blamed on a militia in the troubled region. IMAGES
