Greenpeace puts up banner against Amazon deforestation at EC headquarters

Brussels (Belgium), Sep 11 (EFE), (Camera: Leo Rodríguez).- The environmental organization Greenpeace unveiled a giant banner at the headquarters of the European Commission (EC) in Brussels on Friday to denounce the deforestation of the Amazon as a criticism of the agreement reached between the European Union (EU) and Mercosur, which has not yet come into effect. FOOTAGE OF THE BANNER AND STATEMENTS BY SÉBASTIEN SNOECK, CAMPAIGN DIRECTOR OF THE GREENPEACE ECOSYSTEMS TEAM.Translation: "We think the agreement between the European Union and Mercosur must stop one day, the European Union can't be complicit with the destruction of the amazon forest.We know that the current regime of (Brazilian President Jair) Bolsonaro encourages the destruction of the Amazon, the European Union can't be complicit with that destruction.Our 10 activists from here, since 6am have put up this message on the building, with respect for safety measures for them and everything else."
