Based on its dimensions, the Audi A6 Avant e-tron concept clearly represents the upscale segments – 4.96 meters (16.3 feet) in length, 1.96 meters (6.4 feet) in width, and 1.44 meters (4.7 feet) in height, the same as the current models in the Audi A6/A7 series. With its dynamic proportions and elegant lines, including the Avant back end typical of the brand, it’s obvious at first glance that this vehicle was conceived in a wind tunnel.Aerodynamics has always played a key role in Audi’s long history of success in the luxury class. The cW value of the Audi 100 / C3 – the aerodynamics world champion of all classes in its day – is legendary: with its cW value of 0.30, Audi was already far outperforming its competitors as early as 1982, and continued to do so for many years thereafter.Now the electrically powered family of the Audi A6 e-tron concept is writing a new chapter in this success story, proving once again that the brand always combines form and function in perfect symbiosis. The Sportback’s cW value of just 0.22 is unprecedented in the electrified C-segment. With its expansive roofline, the Avant’s cW value is just 0.02 units above that. In layman’s terms, this means the car exhibits minimal aerodynamic drag – which initially translates into lower energy consumption and therefore extended range. At the same time, the fine-tuning in the wind tunnel has once again resulted in an organic design with exceptional elegance and harmony down to the last detail.Large 22-inch wheels and short overhangs, the flat cabin, and a dynamic roof arch give the Avant proportions that are distinctly reminiscent of a sports car.
Audi is resolutely pushing ahead with its “e-volution” towards electric mobility and will be unveiling the forerunner of an innovative family of fully electric, production cars – the four-door Audi A6 e-tron concept – at the Auto Shanghai 2021 show. A completely new technology architecture, the “Premium Platform Electric,” or PPE for short, will serve as the technology platform for these vehicles in the future. Beginning in late 2022, the first production cars in the C- and later also B-segment will be relaunched with PPE technology, including – a first in the market for electric vehicles – both SUVs with a high ground clearance and dynamically styled models with a lower ride height, such as the upcoming Audi A6 e-tron.
Beautiful station wagons are called Avant – and are now also electrically driven and have zero local emissions. Following the A6 Sedan, the Audi full-size station wagon is now entering the market as a plug-in hybrid (PHEV). The intelligent drive management with a predictive operating strategy enables the new Audi A6 Avant 55 TFSI e quattro** to achieve a high electric range, low fuel consumption and dynamic performance. The Audi A6 Avant PHEV has a comprehensive range of standard equipment on board, including the S line exterior package, Audi virtual cockpit, Matrix LED headlights as well as sport suspension and sport seats.
Audi presents the SQ7 and the SQ8 with new TFSI engines. The brand is thus responding to the worldwide trend toward sporty gasoline engines in the high-performance SUV segment. The Audi SQ7 and SQ8 feature numerous high-tech suspension components and offer new connectivity and assistance functions.
With its high-performance character, the naturally aspirating 5.2 FSI engine lets the driver really experience the motorsport genes of the new Audi R8. It responds almost instantaneously and easily revs up to 8,700 rpm; at the engine speed limiter, the pistons cover a distance of 26.9 meters (88.3 ft) per second. Under load, the V10 develops a very unique sound – a throaty hissing and roaring sound.The performance and torque of the Audi R8 were further improved in the course of the revision. The R8 V10 quattro offers 419 kW (570 metric horsepower) at 8,000 rpm, which constitutes an increase of 22 kW (30 metric horsepower). The maximum torque of 560 Nm (413.0 lb-ft) is available at 6,200 rpm. For the R8 V10 performance quattro, the values at the same rotational speeds are 456 kW (620 metric horsepower) and 580 Nm (427.8 lb-ft).
