U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced Wednesday modified guidance on Covid-19 quarantining. The new guidelines recommend that close contacts of people infected with Covid-19 should quarantine for 7 to 10 days after exposure. According to UPI, this is a decrease from the original recommendation of 14 days. People can end their quarantine after 7 days if they receive a negative COVID-19 test. The 10-day quarantine applies to those who choose to not get tested. The non-testing options were created to account for testing delays and shortages in some parts of the country.

Various US cities, Feb 10 (EFE/EPA).- The United States has reached the 10 percent threshold with 33.7 million people having received at least one of the 44.7 million doses of anti-Covid-19 vaccine that have been administered so far, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported Wednesday. Some 10.4 million people have received both doses of the two-dose vaccination series and, with the exception of Kansas, Missouri and Alabama, elsewhere in the country the rate of vaccine administration exceeds the figure of 11,000 per 100,000 residents. The US Department of Health and Human Services expanded COVID-19 vaccine availability. The agency said they will now include people age 65 and older in the initial phase of distribution. According to UPI, the changes also give priority to those with underlying health conditions. People of any age with underlying health conditions are at higher risk for serious illness from COVID-19 infection. In addition to expanding the priority population, HHS will also be releasing the nation's "entire supply" of vaccines. As of Tuesday, just 9 million of the 25 million vaccine doses distributed had been administered.
Many people are concerned about severe allergic reactions to the coronavirus vaccine. But based on findings, the chances of having a severe allergic reaction are low. In the first week and a half of the US COVID-19 vaccine effort, the CDC confirmed 29 reactions. These confirmed cases are severe allergic reactions known as anaphylaxis. The cases to 29 out of 1.9 million doses administered means this reaction is very rare. That adds up to a rate of 11.1 cases of anaphylaxis out of 1 million doses administered.
