Kolkata, Oct 23 (EFE/EPA).- Hindu devotees on Monday performed rituals before immersing a statue of the Goddess Durga into the river Ganges, marking the last day of the Durga Puja festival. The Durga Puja is widely celebrated in the Indian states of West Bengal, Assam, Jharkhand, Orissa and Tripura and culminates in the immersion of the idols of Hindu goddess Durga, who symbolizes power and the triumph of good over evil in Hindu mythology.
