2022 marks the 50th anniversary of one the brand’s icons, Renault 5. True symbol of the pop-culture, mor e than 5 million units of the model were sold in several countries between 1972 and 1984.Renault has lined up a series of events, activations, and operations on social networks.Today it is a new collaboration between Renault and French designer Pierre Gonalons that is making news. To celebrate this iconic model’s 50th anniversary, Renault decided to join forces with a prominent designer who ranks among Architectural Digest’s 100 leading creators and representative of French arts and crafts.The conversations between Pierre Gonalons and the Renault Design Colours & Trims team led to the Renault 5 Diamant show-car. An electric car, capturing the designer’s vision of the car of the future, combining automotive and interior decoration hallmarks.
The new Mégane E-TECH Electric is the first model to introduce the sensational “Sensual Tech” design with the new Renault logo on the front and rear. Features of the Mégane E-TECH Electric are sensual style elements such as the muscularly rounded shoulder area, the drawn-in flanks and the contoured bonnet. They are complemented by striking high-tech details such as micro-optical LED light strips at the rear or the large OpenR screen in the interior. Thanks to the lower cooling requirement of the electric drive, the designers were able to create a largely closed front. Another feature: the door handles, which are flush with the body, open automatically as soon as the driver approaches. The external appearance is completed by borrowings from the world of crossover models. Depending on the equipment, these include 18 or 20-inch wheels, the high belt line and protectors on the wheel arches and vehicle flanks. The roof, which is curved towards the rear, is reminiscent of a coupé.
Born from the cooperation between Renault's French and Indian Design divisions, the Kiger show car is an SUV with an adventurous look exuding an attractive energy that catches both the eye and the mind. With its DNA it is predestined for the urban jungle as well as the great outdoors.At first glance, the Kiger show car stands out with its sculpted bonnet, slender windscreen and a semi-floating roof with a roof rack. On both sides, the tapered mirrors have been designed like airplane wings. At the rear, the roof drop is topped by a spoiler, giving the vehicle a very airy look. The lower section is more muscular and stockier, resting on four 19-inch wheels framed by large square arches that give strength to the exterior styling. The 210-mm ground clearance with reinforced lower flaps and prominent shoulders confirm the escape spirit of the SUV. The sporty side is accentuated by the dual centrally located exhaust tailpipes and the honeycomb patterns distributed around the vehicle.
