Government employees protest in Indian Kashmir

Srinagar, Oct 21 (EFE/EPA).- Indian police on Wednesday dispersed Kashmiri contractual government employees during a protest in Srinagar, the summer capital of Indian Kashmir. Indian Police used water cannons and detained over a dozen employees. The employees were trying to march toward Raj Bhawan, the official summer residence of Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory. The employees were demanding the following: regularization of Minimum Wage Act; regularization of land donors; release of pending wages, immediate release of salaries and provide job to a family member of the employee who was killed in the line of duty.
