Tokyo, Sep 3 (EFE/EPA).- Japan's prime minister said Friday that would not be running for re-election as leader of the ruling party, effectively announcing his resignation.Yoshihide Suga announced his decision at an extraordinary meeting of the executive board of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) on Friday, Japanese public broadcaster NHK reported.The prime minister, who has been the country's prime minister since September last year after the resignation of his predecessor Shinzo Abe, due to health reasons, will not participate in the LDP's internal elections that will be held on Sep. 29 to choose the party's leader and candidate for the next general elections in Japan.
