The flight marks the beginning of what will soon be a maximum of 110 daily flights to Cuba from the US, operated by various carriers alongside JetBlue, including American Airlines, Delta, Frontier, Southwest and Silver Airways. This development is part of a recent 'thaw' in Cuban-American relations that happened on the initiative of President Obama after over 5 decades of strained relations caused by the Cold War.
