Pro-democracy protest in Hong Kong amid coronavirus pandemic

Description

Hong Kong, Apr 24 (EFE / EPA) .- Pro-democracy citizens in Hong Kong held a protest on Friday in a shopping center to denounce the arrest of 15 people that participated in the 2019 protests. The protest was carried out maintaining social distancing protocols and with all participants wearing face masks.Hong Kong police arrested at least 14 pro-democracy activists on April 18 for allegedly organizing unauthorized protests over the past year, local press reported. The League of Social Democrats party confirmed on Facebook that its President Raphael Wong, Vice President Leung Kwok-hung and Secretary General Avery Ng are among those arrested. The massive anti-government protests in Hong Kong appear to be at a standstill due to the coronavirus pandemic, but supporters of the pro-democracy movement have warned that, when the health crisis ends, they would return to the streets to demonstrate again.(Camera: JEROME FAVRE)FOOTAGE SHOWS THE PROTEST HELD ON FRIDAY IN A HOPPING MALL IN HONG KONG.
