Across the state, thousands are lining up for food rations. But the nightmarish conditions haven't stopped the state's Republican senator from keeping his Thanksgiving holiday plans on track. Business Insider reports Sen. Ted Cruz tweeted an insensitive graphic depicting a turkey with the words 'come and take it' below it. The tweet suggests he has no intention of following the advice of health officials this coming holiday. Dr. Anthony Fauci and other experts have warned that large, in-person gatherings this fall could spread the coronavirus and create another uptick in cases.

The Pentagon has upped the number of National Guard members it wants present at President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration by 4,000. CNN reports the Pentagon on Friday authorized up to 25,000 National Guard members, marking an increase from the 21,000 troops authorized a day earlier. Patients at a clinic run by the Boone County Health Department in West Virginia were supposed to receive Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine on Wednesday. But according to CNN, the 42 people were administered COVID-19 antibodies, instead. Officials said it was an isolated incident but didn't explain exactly how such a mix-up occurred. Fortunately, state and local health officials don't think they are at any risk of harm. The West Virginia National Guard issued a statement soon after, vowing to avoid such incidents in the future.
