Chicago jail becomes US top coronavirus hot spot

Chicago, Apr 10 (EFE/EPA).- The Cook County jail in Chicago has recently become the US largest-known source of coronavirus infections after 276 inmates and more than 115 staff members tested positive for the virus, according to local media.Among those infected with COVID-19 in the facility, two have died: inmate Jeffrey Pendleton, 59, and Leslie Pieroni, 51, a convicted sex offender, the latter of which died on Friday.The jail now holds nearly 4,500 inmates inside, worrying US health authorities over its overcrowding and unsanitary conditions (Camera: TANNEN MAURY).FOOTAGE SHOWS THE GROUND AND AERIAL VIEW OF THE COOK COUNTY JAIL IN CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, US.
