S. Africa health authorities conduct checks in informal Johannesburg settlement

Description

Responding to the threat posed by COVID-19, South African health authorities set up a testing site in the poor informal settlement of Diepsloot, in Johannesburg. The aim is to reach more people, while also ensuring that health clinics are not overwhelmed. Here, they are on the lookout for signs of COVID-19, but also other diseases, like HIV. South Africa has the highest recorded numbers of coronavirus infection in sub-Saharan Africa, with over 2,400 cases. IMAGES
