Zimbabwe opposition party Vice President and members arrested

Members of Zimbabwe's opposition MDC Alliance party are arrested, including Vice President Tendai Biti. The arrest took place outside the party's headquarters in Harare, after Biti had asked police to allow him access to the building to clear out members of a splinter group that had previously occupied the building.     Attorney Lin Wood tweeted on Friday that Vice President Mike Pence should be arrested for treason and executed by firing squad. The staunch supporter of President Donald Trump also blamed Chief Justice John Roberts and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell for the election results. According to Business Insider, Wood's remarks triggered some Republicans to issue tweets to distance themselves from him. Among them were Trump campaign lawyer Jenna Ellis, and the conservative high school student Nicholas Sandmann. In recent weeks, Wood has filed or joined lawsuits to overturn President-elect Joe Biden's election victory. Wood has also cited conspiracy theories in the past.

    Republican lawmakers are planning to delay certification of Joe Biden's 2020 election victory. Pres. Donald Trump and his allies have tried to overturn the election for weeks. They have pushed "baseless" claims of election fraud. GOP Sen. Ben Sasse is slamming plans to delay certifying the election. He took to Facebook to share his dismay. "If you make big claims, you had better have the evidence." Sasse said the president has no evidence to back up his claims of election fraud.
