In an unnanounced visit to the Netherlands, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrives at The Hague's International Criminal Court, which has issued an arrest warrant for Russia's President Vladimir Putin. Missouri's attorney general Eric Schmitt announces that his state will be the first "to effectively end abortion" in the United States, after the conservative-dominated Supreme Court overturned the landmark 1973 "Roe v. Wade" decision that enshrined a woman's right to an abortion, saying that individual states can now permit or restrict the procedure themselves. "I pledge to continue to fight for our most fundamental right: the right to life," Schmitt says in a video statement posted to social media. SOUNDBITE

Politico and AP are reporting that Joe Biden has found his attorney general. Biden will nominate Judge Merrick Garland as his attorney general. Garland has been a judge on the US Court of Appeals in Washington, DC, since 1997. He began his legal career at the Justice Department under President Jimmy Carter in the 1970s. In March 2016 Pres. Barack Obama nominated him to succeed Antonin Scalia to the Supreme court. His nomination was scuttled after Republicans stonewalled it.
