The Israeli government is preparing to annex parts of the West Bank, occupied by Israel in 1967, a plan promised by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during election campaigns and endorsed in January by the U.S. administration of President Donald Trump as part of a Middle East peace plan, but widely rejected in the region.
