Ganghwa, Aug 11 (EFE).- The South Korean islands of Ganghwa County, on the border with the North, have been the scene of persistent tensions this summer.The area has seen disputes in recent months over the distribution of propaganda and rice by activists and a North Korean defector who swam across the border.The islands are located about 30 kilometers northwest of Seoul and are home to around 70,000 people. Paju, Jun 23 (EFE/EPA).- - South Korea on Tuesday conducted military drills near the demilitarized zone (DMZ) in Paju amid rising tension with Pyoungyang over the launching of balloons carrying leaflets with anti-North Korea meassages across the border by a group of North Korean defectors and activists in the South.According to North Korean defector and activist Park Sang-hak said that he, along with six other activists, have launched thousands of leaflets by balloon across the border with North Korea overnight.
