US doubles relief funds for 2020 Atlantic hurricane season amid pandemic

Miami, Jun 8 (EFE/EPA).-The US Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has doubled its relief funds to $80 billion to prepare for the current Atlantic hurricane season due to the coronavirus pandemic, FEMA administrator Pete Gaynor announced on Monday.Gaynor made the announcement alongside Acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad F. Wolf, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, and Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Giménez in a press conference at the Miami-Dade Emergency Operations Center in Miami (Camera: CRISTOBAL HERRERA).
