Kathmandu Valley celebrates festival of cows

Kathmandu, Aug 4 (EFE/EPA).- Nepalese Hindus Tuesday took part in the Gai Jatra, also known as the festival of cows, procession and celebrated the religious festival to ask for salvation and peace for their family members who have passed away. Children participating in the procession dressed as cows, which are regarded as holy animals in Nepal, and according to belief help departed souls to reach heaven.
