    The third officer of a Turkish cargo ship was killed and several other crew members injured after their vessel was attacked twice off the Libyan coast from the UN-recognized Libyan government’s stronghold of Tobruk.The Tuna-1, a drygoods cargo ship carrying plasterboard from Spain to libya, was about 20 km off the coast of Tobruk when it was shelled from the Libyan coast as it approached the port. It was then attacked a second time from the air as it tried to leave the area. The ship caught fire and was eventually towed to Tobruk port, according to reports in Reuters and Bloomberg.According to Reuters, forces loyal to the Libyan government, which claims Turkey is sending arms to a rival faction, claimed responsibility for the attack. Turkey has demanded that Libyan authorities be held accountable for the attack, the International Business Times reported. Libya has been in turmoil since former President Muammar Qaddafi was deposed, with rival militias fighting against each other for the control of the country’s oil. The city of Tobruk has been the capital of Libya's UN-recognised government ever since it was expelled from Tripoli by the Islamic fundamentalist faction Libya Dawn.An Islamist-backed government operates in Tripoli.
