Istambul, Mar 3 (EFE/EPA).- (Camera: Sedat Suna) The closure of brothels and curfews as a preventive measure against the coronavirus pandemic has caused a great precariousness of prostitution in Turkey, a legal activity but still lacking many rights.FOOTAGE OF THE DAILY LIFE OF DERYA KARAGÖZ, TRANS PROSTITUTE IN ISTAMBULSOUNDBITES OF KARAGÖZ00'04-00'09: Hello, my name is Cansel, known as Derya Karagöz.00'09-00'13: What, what kind of life do I have? The U.S. could soon be giving at least a million COVID-19 vaccinations a day. This would be a major shift from the current speed which has been described as a sluggish start. Dr. Anthony Fauci warned of a dangerous next few weeks as the coronavirus surges. The slow pace is frustrating health officials and a desperate public alike, says HuffPost. Only about a third of the first supplies shipped to states have been used as of Tuesday morning. This is just over three weeks into the vaccination campaign.
R&B singer Jeremih is battling the novel coronavirus COVID-19 in an intensive care unit. CNN reports the 33-year-old is on a ventilator to help him breathe. According to a statement from his family, what Jeremih is experiencing 'is rare for a young man his age without underlying conditions.' The singer/songwriter's first Top 10 hit was 2009's 'Birthday Sex.' He's had more hits since and successful collaborations with other artists, including Ty Dolla Sign and YG. Jeremih's family said the virus has 'viciously attacked his body,' and are gratefully asking for continued prayers.
With no end in sight to the novel coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic in the US, it's no surprise that myths about the virus abound. According to Business Insider, one common myth is that wearing a mask is dangerous because you'll get carbon dioxide poisoning. But epidemiology professor Stephen Morse says any CO2 the wearer exhales passes through the mask, just like oxygen, and doesn't build up. After all, healthcare workers wear masks for hours on end, which is proof that mask-wearing does not cause carbon dioxide poisoning or toxicity. Furthermore, blood oxygen levels remain perfectly normal when wearing a mask, provided the wearer is healthy.
