It's been widely noted that survivors of the novel coronavirus COVID-19 may suffer neurological damage long after other symptoms survive. It's believed that this brain damage isn't caused by the virus, but rather by the body's immune response to it. Now, UPI reports an international group of researchers has called for studies to explore the potential long-term effects of COVID-19 on the brain. Previous studies have documented brain inflammation, or encephalitis, in patients with severe COVID-19 symptoms. Some patients also suffered strokes. Postmortem MRI scans of patients who have died from COVID-19 have revealed lesions, or damage, in different regions of the brain. Researchers say it's becoming clear that the damage done by COVID-19 may have chronic, long-term consequences that could impact patients' quality of life.

President Donald Trump claims his campaign staff had to move the site of his rally to comply with Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf's COVID-19 protocols. At a rally in Allentown on Tuesday, Trump fumed about it to his supporters and issued a none-too-subtle threat to the state's Democratic governor. According to CNN, Trump threatened to withhold federal aid or other assistance the next time Pennsylvania needs it because Gov. Wolf inconvenienced him. I'll remember it, Tom. I'm gonna remember it, Tom. 'Hello, Mr. President, this is Governor Wolf, I need help, I need help.' You know what? These people are bad. President Donald J. Trump Campaign Rally, Allentown, Pennsylvania Trump's words may have a chilling effect on other governors, who do not wish to have to factor in Trump's wrath in making decisions for their state. It also indicates Trump's mindset that the public purse is something he can wield as a personal weapon against those who displease him.
A new, rapid, bedside test for COVID-19 delivers results in less than two hours. UPI reports a new study says such a quick turnaround means appropriate treatment can start earlier for those already hospitalized because of their symptoms. The standard COVID-19 test swabs the patient's nose and uses polymerase chain reaction, or PCR, technology. It typically takes over 20 hours to produce results. The longer patients have to wait for results, the longer COVID-19 positive patients remain in non-COVID wards. That furthers the spread of the disease. The British researchers say the point-of-care test was more than 99% accurate at correctly identifying those positive for the novel coronavirus.

Ken Martin Chairman of the Minnesota Democratic Party But the trio is passing the buck and blaming the airline.
