In 2017, then-Governor of Wisconsin Scott Walker made great fanfare of the arrival of Apple's biggest supplier, Foxconn. Foxconn had agreed to build a facility to manufacture large-screen TV displays and create 13,000 jobs. In exchange, Wisconsin would offer an enticing series of tax breaks, totaling $4 billion. Now, Business Insider reports the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation has rejected Foxconn's application for tax subsidies. Business Insider reports Foxconn had to have at least 520 people under employment by the end of 2019 to receive the subsidies. Foxconn claimed to have hired 550 people, but Wisconsin says only 281 of them met the qualifications listed in the contract.
Hubo the humanoid robot took part in the 2019 Winter Olympic Games torch relay in the South Korean city of Daejon on Monday, becoming the first robot to have the honor. The robot crashed through a brick wall to show his stronger side as part of the relay ceremony before passing the flame on to Dr Oh Jun Ho. South Korea has announced plans to employ a fleet of 85 robots ‘volunteers’ in the Winter Olympics. Eleven different types of robots are set to be used for various tasks during the games, including helping tourists make deliveries, painting murals and taking part in the torch rally.
Six scientists, completely isolated from the outside world for 17 days for an experiment imitating a trip to the moon, spoke to the press after completing their mission. Five Russians and one German participating in the experiment, nicknamed ‘SIRIUS’ or the Scientific international research in unique terrestrial station), imitated a space trip to the moon on Friday, after being locked on a terrestrial space capsule for 17 days. The experiment aimed to examine psychological and physical effects of confinement. During the imitation flight, team members performed various scientific experiments in the mock-up spaceship and responded to simulated emergency situations, including medical situations and sleep deprivation.

In order to address this issue, scientists from Moscow’s Institute of Medical and Biological Problems tested their centrifuge technology spinner, which they hope could create artificial gravity in space. Creating artificial gravity in space could solve many of the issues connected to weightlessness in reduced gravity environments, such as allowing cosmonauts and astronauts to complete any task on board space stations much faster and alleviating the negative influences of microgravity on the body. Centrifuge technology may make it into space within the next decade.
