Northern California Wildfire Kills 2, Thousands Flee

Description

A fast-growing northern California wildfire killed a second firefighter on Friday, Reuters reports. High winds drove the Carr Fire into the city of Redding, prompting mass evacuations. The fire has destroyed scores of homes and continues to threaten some 5,000 other dwellings and businesses. Redding is home to about 90,000 people. Firefighters and police hustled door to door in "life-saving mode," ushering civilians out of harm’s way.
