  • Rescue efforts continue after magnitude 6.8 quake hits southern Philippines

    Hagonoy, Dec 16 (EFE/EPA).-Seach and rescue operations continued on Monday after a magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck the southern Philippine island of Mindanao on Dec 15.The temblor occurred at around 2pm local time on Dec 15 with an epicenter 9 kilometers to the west of Matanao, 6 km northeast of Padada. According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), the earthquake's magnitude was 6.9 and had a hypocenter at a depth of 30km.
