CNN reports the glands are hidden away in the skull, where the nasal cavity and the throat meet. The cancer researchers first came across the body part during a scan designed to look for tumorous growths. The 'unknown entity' cannot be seen on X-rays, or in ultrasound, MRI scans, or PET scans. Rather, the glands can only be seen in a new, highly advanced type of scan called PSMA PET/CT The scientists, from the Netherlands Cancer Institute, propose naming them 'tubarial glands.'
