Explosions and gunfire tore through Indonesia’s capital on Thursday morning in the first major attack on the world’s most populous Muslim-majority country since 2009. The attack follows threats made by the Islamic State in late November that “there will be a concert” in Indonesia — meaning that Indonesia is a target.
Indonesian police say militants have launched a gun and bomb assault in the centre of the capital Jakarta, killing at least six people. Yiming Woo reports.
