China has officially completed its 1.2 billion yuan radio telescope, which could be the world’s largest for next one to two decades. The cost of its production is equal to roughly US$180 million.

The world’s largest plate of nachos was presented at an event called ‘Noche of Nachos’, organised with the city of La Cruces and New Mexico Department of Agriculture. A 2,282kg (5,030 lb) plate of tortilla chips, spiced up with lotte cheese, minced meat, vegetables and salsa sauce was served up to locals. 200 portions were donated to a local homeless charity.
The 'Sleeping Lion Pearl' is set to be sold at auction for the first time in 240 years at the Venduehuis in The Hague. Previously owned by Catherine the Great, the pearl had been lost, found, survived the Russian Revolution of 1917 and is now estimated to be worth €540,000.
