Monrovia, Oct 7 (EFE/EPA).- The automotive industry is a male-dominated world, but mechanic Angeline Tarpeh defies the odds by working at a garage in the suburb of Monrovia.Tarpeh began auto-mechanic training in 2014, at age 14, a profession she has passion for, however as a female she felt shy on the first day at the garage, a profession predominantly dominated by male.The job now enables Tarpeh to earn some money to pay school fees, cater to herself and poor siblings. A new analysis from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows cancer can take years off a person's life--literally. UPI reports the analysis, released Thursday, says surviving cancer 'ages' a person's heart by up to nine years. Based on their overall health, adult male cancer survivors were found to have hearts that appeared 8 1/2 years older than their actual age. As for women, females who survived the disease were found to have hearts that appeared to be 6 1/2 years older. Past research has found that compared to non-cancer survivors, adult cancer survivors are at high risk for heart disease due to greater excess heart age.
