    According to a report by Gizmodo, a privacy expert tasked with helping a new smart city protect the privacy of residents has resigned over concerns that her guidelines would be largely ignored. Ann Cavoukian, the former privacy commissioner of Ontario, wrote in her resignation letter from Google sister company Sidewalk Labs, “I imagined us creating a Smart City of Privacy, as opposed to a Smart City of Surveillance." Gizmodo reports that earlier this month, in an op-ed, former BlackBerry CEO Jim Balsillie referred to the development as “a colonizing experiment in surveillance capitalism attempting to bulldoze important urban, civic and political issues.”

  • Terrifying Moment Russian Plane with 71 On Board Crashes into Fireball

    Seventy one people, including three foreign nationals and six crew members, were killed when Saratov Airlines flight 6W703 crashed shortly after take-off.
