Greece says it plans to return 10,000 migrants to Turkey by the end of next year. The announcement follows a deadly fire at the heavily overcrowded Moria camp, on the island of Lesbos.

Images of the Greek coastguard transporting rescued migrants back to land after their boat sank. An air and sea operation by the Greek coastguard has rescued 29 migrants after the boat sank in the Aegean Sea off the islands of Karpathos and Rhodes, leaving dozens missing.
The Hellenic Coast Guard rescued several migrants from the water and rubber dinghies off the coast of Greek island Chios in the Aegean Sea, near Turkey. The coast guard told AFP that four children died and 22 people were rescued.
