Syrian Forces Enter Islamic State-Held Town Near Palmyra

Description

Syrian state media is reporting that government forces have entered the Islamic State-held town of al-Qaryatain on Sunday, having gradually surrounded it over the past few days, from a number of directions. The Syrian and allied forces, were being backed by Russian air strikes, when they entered Al-Qaryatain which is 100 km (60 miles) west of Palmyra. The town has been held by Islamic State since late August.

White House Urges Turkey to Halt Advances in Syria

US Deputy National Security Adviser for Strategic Communications, Ben Rhodes, warned Turkey against engaging with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), during the daily press briefing in Washington D.C. on Monday.
