Washington (USA), Feb 24 (EFE).- The president of the House of Representatives, Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi, expressed her confidence Thursday that the minimum wage of $15 an hour will finally be part of the legislative stimulus package.
Former Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen is now being confirmed for another top job--that of Treasury Secretary in the Biden administration. And according to Business Insider, she says raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour would have little to no impact on employment. Democrats support raising the minimum wage, but it remains a partisan issue due to its potential effects on the economy. GOP lawmakers consistently argue that raising the minimum wage would cost the country millions of jobs. However, Yellen said Tuesday that a $15 minimum wage increase wouldn't significantly impact the job market.
McDonald's franchisee Chris Habiger gave a tour to media at his technologically advanced restaurant in in St. Joseph, Missouri, on Wednesday, just a day before his next generation McDonald's restaurant is to open for customers on Thursday morning. Increasing use of robots in fast food comes amid a country-wide push to raise the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour. Of course, robots don't need a salary.
