Donald Trump Jr. had considered running for an open Senate seat in Wyoming last year--but decided against it. Instead, Business Insider reports the eldest son of President Donald Trump and girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle are looking at real estate in Florida. The eldest son of President Donald Trump has sparred with Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) over his father's foreign policy agenda in the past. But while Wyoming strongly leans Republican, he lacked roots in the Western state, which is also the least populated state in the US. White House advisor Ivanka Trump is thought of as a potential Republican challenger to GOP Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida in 2022. Ivanka Trump and husband Jared Kushner are also house-hunting in Florida, where her father and stepmother plan to relocate shortly.
Freshman GOP Rep. Peter Meijer voted to impeach Pres. Donald Trump last week. On Sunday, he talked about the fallout of that decision. Meijer said he might have ended his political future by voting to impeach President Trump. During an appearance on ABC's "This Week," he asked Meijer if voting for Trump potentially damaged his career beyond repair. "I may very well have," Meijer said. Meijer said voting to impeach Trump was necessary for the good of the country.
Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski has turned on Donald Trump. Murkowski is the first Republican member of Congress to urge Trump to resign from office. Trump is accused of inciting rioters to breach the Capitol by lying for months that the presidential election "I want him to resign. I want him out. He has caused enough damage." Murkowski told the Anchorage Daily News in an interview published on Friday.
Attorney Lin Wood tweeted on Friday that Vice President Mike Pence should be arrested for treason and executed by firing squad. The staunch supporter of President Donald Trump also blamed Chief Justice John Roberts and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell for the election results. According to Business Insider, Wood's remarks triggered some Republicans to issue tweets to distance themselves from him. Among them were Trump campaign lawyer Jenna Ellis, and the conservative high school student Nicholas Sandmann. In recent weeks, Wood has filed or joined lawsuits to overturn President-elect Joe Biden's election victory. Wood has also cited conspiracy theories in the past.
President Donald Trump has urged his supporters to flock to Washington DC on January 6. He is promising followers a "wild" rally. January 6 is the same day that Congress is scheduled to meet to formally finalize the presidential election results. Business Insider reports not much can legally be done on the date. However, many pro-Trump Republicans have said they will try to disrupt the process.
