Republican former President George W. Bush called out the rioters who stormed the US Capitol building on Wednesday. Thousands of Trump supporters violently forced their way onto the Capitol grounds and into the Capitol building. The insurrection forced a shutdown of the House and Senate chambers of the US Capitol on Wednesday. Former President Bush called the scene "sickening and heartbreaking" in a pointed statement. He went on to say "I am appalled by the reckless behavior of some political leaders since the election".
Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders had harsh words on Sunday for President Donald Trump, saying Trump was 'unbelievably cruel.' Business Insider reports Sanders was irate at Trump for not signing the coronavirus relief package and blocking unemployment benefits. You can't diddle around with the bill. President Donald Trump has routinely lambasted the media as a whole for peddling 'fake news.' However, Business Insider reports Trump has now begun to single out glossy US magazines specifically. That's because while he's been in office, not one has offered his wife, First Lady Melania Trump, a single cover shoot. Friday, Trump retweeted a Breitbart post that said 'elitist snobs in the fashion press' were snubbing the 'most elegant First Lady in American history.' Trump fans have long noticed and lamented the absence of the First Lady from US newsstands. They've often accused the US press of revealing their liberal bias by granting former Michelle Obama 12 cover shoots during her time as First Lady.
Georgia election official Gabriel Sterling is the state's voting systems manager. And according to Business Insider, the Republican has had more than enough of President Donald Trump and GOP senators. In a fiery press conference Tuesday, Sterling a Republican, urged them to 'stop inspiring potential acts of violence' against election workers. He said a young contractor with an election vendor, Dominion Voting Systems, has faced threats and harassment for completing basic tech tasks. Sterling tore into the president and local lawmakers for not showing any leadership and of being 'complicit' in the harassment of election workers. Dr. Anthony Fauci is in hot water with the White House for speaking out in an interview, published Saturday, about the state of COVID-19 cases in the US. The director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases warned that the US needed to make an 'abrupt change' in its handling of the pandemic. White House spokesperson Judd Deere sternly rebuked Fauci for making 'his political leanings known by praising the president's opponent.' Business Insider reports that for the first time since the outset of the pandemic, the US logged nearly 100,000 new cases of COVID-19 in a single day. President Donald Trump has continued to falsely blame the rise in cases on a rise in testing--and media coverage.
