Murtaza Ahmadi made headlines when a photo of him wearing a blue and white plastic bag with with the Argentine soccer player's name and number drawn on it. Thousands of people shared the photo and tried to find the boy in order to get him a real jersey. Family members identified 5-year-old Murtaza, who lives in the countryside of Jaghori, Afghanistan. The Afghanistan Football Federation arranged a meeting between him and its national team. But the moment the world had been waiting for came when UNICEF delivered a signed Messi jersey to Murtaza.

    In January, a photograph of a little boy wearing a Lionel Messi shirt made out of a plastic bag took social media by storm, reportedly causing a reaction even from the footballer himself. The boy, whose photographs appeared on Twitter, was soon identified as five-year-old Murtaza Ahmadi from Jaghori, Afghanistan. Now, he will get a chance to meet his idol. On Saturday, the Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF) confirmed in a blog post it plans to arrange a meeting with Murtaza. According to CNN, the boy has become somewhat of a celebrity in his village, though his true desire — to meet the footballer in person — is still unfulfilled.
