Trial opens for six teenagers for their role in the 2020 beheading of French teacher Samuel Paty, the first of two trials in a case that horrified France. The suspects, who were between the ages of 13 and 15 at the time of the murder, are accused of having been on the lookout for Paty, identifying him to the killer in exchange for money, or for making false accusations. Paty, a 47-year-old history and geography teacher, was stabbed and then beheaded near his secondary school in the Paris suburb of Conflans-Sainte-Honorine. His attacker was shot dead at the scene by police. IMAGES
