A prototype electric car made of carbon fibre reinforced plastic was tested at the Japan Cycle Sports Centre, Shuzenji, Shizuoka Prefecture. Around 85 per cent of the car parts reportedly consists of polymers or plastics by volume, which makes the car ultra-light.
Renault revealed its new driverless concept vehicle called the EZ-GO at the Geneva International Motor Show on Tuesday. EZ-GO is a Level 4 driverless vehicle, so it can change lanes, turn at an intersection, and keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front of it. Users will be able to access the EZ-GO from an app or from fixed locations and will enter through a hatch which opens at the front of the vehicle, which also make the auto wheelchair accessible. The EZ-GO can accomodate up to 6 people at a time and features a U-shaped seating arrangement, making the ride a social experience.
A Russian pensioner named Gennadii Valyaev drove his SsangYong Actyon SUV off the streets of Saint Petersburg and down into one of the city’s metro entrances on Wednesday, apparently just to "see if it would fit." A smiling Valyaev cranked up his music to make the most of the acoustics in the underpass while commuters snapped photos of the ridiculous situation. Emergency workers have removed the offending vehicle and the Petersburg Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation.
The first official budget figures since Britain voted to leave the EU show a smaller-than-expected budget surplus. As post-referendum data continues to trickle in, attention is turning to what sort of access Britain will seek with its main trading partners in the EU. Kirsty Basset reports.
