An incredibly well-preserved ancient artwork, a detailed and colorful wall frieze showing two fanged beasts facing each other, was discovered under layers of mud and rock near the Peruvian capital Lima. Astonishingly, Peruvian archeologists have confirmed that polychrome friezes, discovered at Huaca Garagay archeological site near Lima's San Martin de Porres district on Thursday, are over 3,500 years old as determined by carbon dating. The monuments and walls are thought to have been built by the ancient Chavin people.
Scientists unveil a partial skeleton of a newly discovered whale found in Peru that lived nearly 40 million years ago. A total of 13 gigantic vertebrae -- one of which weighed nearly 200 kilograms (440 pounds) -- were found at a site in a coastal desert of southern Peru, as well as four ribs and a hip bone. IMAGES

Egyptian archaeologists discovered mummies and a trove of artifacts in an 18th dynasty tomb of a goldsmith of Amun-Re as well as an entrance to a Middle Kingdom tomb. The burial shaft, which is some 23 feet deep, bears a collection of mummies, sarcophagi, ushabti figurines and funerary objects. The second burial shaft, which was found on the left of the tomb's main chamber, has a collection of sarcophagi allegedly belonging to the 21st and 22nd dynasty.
Proponents of alien astronaut theory are now pointing to 5 humanoid mummies unearthed in Peru as the ultimate evidence of alien visitation. Pictures of the mummies were presented at a press conference in Lima on Tuesday, showing the strange features of the mummies, including a deformed skull, elongated fingers, and an unusual body shape.
