Panama's president-elect Jose Raul Mulino says he is "nobody's puppet," a reference to former president Ricardo Martinelli (2009-2014), whom he replaced as a candidate after being convicted of money laundering and taking refuge in the Nicaraguan embassy. Right-wing lawyer Jose Raul Mulino accepts victory as Panama's president-elect with 34% of the vote, nine points above his immediate follower, announced the Electoral Tribunal after 90% of the polling stations had been counted.
