Hong Kong, 19 July (EFE/EPA) - (Camera: Jerome Favre) Hong Kong on Sunday surpassed its record for coronavirus infections in a single day since the start of the pandemic, with more than 100 new cases.Carrie Lam, Hong Kong's chief executive, announced at a news conference that all officials, except those dedicated to emergency services, will work from home starting Monday for at least a week. Tokyo, Jul 10 (EFE/EPA).- Tokyo on Friday set a new record for coronavirus cases for the second consecutive day, as Hong Kong was on high alert amid a surge in infections.Tokyo registered its first case of coronavirus on Jan. 24 and at the beginning of June seemed to be in control of the situation. But on Thursday it posted a daily record of 224 new cases, and the count rose again Friday to 243, Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike reported.To date, 7,515 people have tested positive for coronavirus in Tokyo, almost a third of the country’s total, with 325 deaths in the capital, compared to 982 deaths across Japan.
