Claire and Phil (Ty Burrell) are desperate to have honest and healthy relationships with their three children; teenage daughter Haley (Sarah Hyland) who is growing up too fast, middle daughter Alex (Ariel Winter) an over-achiever and youngest son, Luke (Nolan Gould) who is a bit too much like his dad... Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson), a larger-than-life character with a flair for the dramatic, and uptight partner Cameron (Eric Stonestreet) have just adopted baby Lilly from Vietnam. New to fatherhood, both are overprotective and cautious dads to their new little girl.
