British Muslim political activist Anjem Choudary appeared Monday at London's Central Criminal Court for sentencing, for "inviting support" for the Islamic State and other militant Islamist groups. He was sentenced to five and half years of jail-time, most of which will likely be spent in solitary confinement in a bid to stop the activist from spreading his teachings to other inmates. Journalists and Choudary's supporters met the vehicle containing the accused in front of the court.
US Deputy National Security Adviser for Strategic Communications, Ben Rhodes, warned Turkey against engaging with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), during the daily press briefing in Washington D.C. on Monday. Rhodes said that although the US support the Turkish effort to rid Jarablus of so-called Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) fighters, they do not however "support and we would oppose efforts to move south and engage in activities against" the SDF.
Footage filmed early on Thursday morning shows forensic investigators and police at London's Russell Square, where a woman was killed and at least five others injured in a mass stabbing on Wednesday evening, in what police suspect may be a terrorist attack.
