German Chancellor Angela Merkel criticises an eastern European proposal to close the Balkans refugee route and vows to push for a plan with Turkey to reduce the influx.
Migrants in the Balkans, blocked by changes in border controls, have been protesting. In mid-November, Slovenia declared it would only allow those fleeing conflict in Syria, Iraq or Afghanistan to pass, an action mirrored by a number of countries across the Balkans.
Around two thousand migrants wake up on the Serbian border with Croatia, after spending the night in a local cemetery. Rough Cut (no reporter narration).
Police data show Albania has seen a rise in arrests for illegal entry this year, as numbers of migrants trying to reach Albania have skyrocketed.
