Taiwan's Foxconn has put its takeover of electronics maker Sharp on hold after discovering previously undisclosed liabilities, sources said. As Sonia Legg reports, it throws into doubt what was set to be the biggest takeover by a foreign firm in Japan's technology sector.
Taiwan's Foxconn will acquire two-thirds of ailing electronics maker Sharp, marking the largest acquisition of a Japanese tech firm by a foreign company and bolstering its position as Apple Inc's biggest supplier. But as Sonia Legg reports, the signing of the deal has been delayed.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says he will offer an "unreserved" apology in parliament after the legislature publicly celebrated a Ukrainian World War II veteran who fought alongside the Nazis.
