San Juan's Mayor Changed Her Mind About Same-Sex Marriage

San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz did not always believe in marriage equality. According to the Huffington Post, Cruz said she changed her mind after meeting a gay couple. Cruz said the couple asked her why she doesn’t believe they should get married and she did not have an answer. She said that moment changed her and she began to believe that everyone had the right to marry. It was not until 2016 that the Supreme Court rules that banning same-sex marriage was unconstitutional.
