Syrian girl who lost her legs in militant shelling learns to walk again

Sidra Zaarur, a 13-year-old Syrian girl who lost her legs during shelling by Jabhat-al-Nusra militants in 2016, is returning to normal life in her home city of Aleppo after getting treatment in Russia.

  • Ruta the dog learns to walk after frostbite amputation

    Malamute dog Ruta had all her paws amputated due to severe frostbite last winter and has now been nursed to health in a Novosibirsk veterinary clinic. The dog was found badly wounded with frostbitten paws at the beginning of February near the town of Mirny in Yakutia. Volunteers raised about 160,000 roubles (€2,100 euro, $2,400) to send her to be operated in Novosibirsk and to cover the costs of her treatment. She's now been provided with special socks and can walk again.
