Agua Preta, Brazil, Jan 6 (EFE).- The gigantic sculpture of a vulva, established in a mountainous area in the Brazilian state of Pernambuco by artist Juliana Notari, is designed to serve as a protest against the "secular abuse" suffered by women and "opens (the) wounds" of a culture pummeled by the current government, the work of art's creator said. A bronze statue of Liverpool’s Egyptian footballer Mohamed Salah was displayed for the first time in Sharm el-Sheikh. The statue, featuring the football star celebrating with his arms outstretched raised eyebrows across the world and on social media because of its oversized head, skinny legs and small body. A sculpture made entirely out of human bones has sparked controversy in the Atlantic Museum of Modern Art (CAAM) in Las Palmas. Artist Teresa Correa designed the eerie artwork, called 'Threshold 2017,' to be shaped like an ancient burial mound. According to the museum, the bones came from aboriginal peoples of the Canary Islands. The artwork has sparked controversy about artwork featuring human remains.
This is 21-year-old Kyrgyz Instagrammer Saykal Jumalieva and this is her viral dance video aiming to raise awareness and fight back against forced child marriage in Kyrgyz society. She dressed as a rural bride and danced to the BeeGees classic hit “Stayin’ Alive” in early July in a protest against the practice of girls being prematurely married off. "Land artist" Dario Gambarin paid tribute to the upcoming Olympics in Rio on Tuesday, by carving a huge earth mural in a field that stretches for nearly 600 feet. The artwork depicts Rio's Christ the Redeemer statue holding five Olympic rings just in time for the Rio Olympics opening ceremony on August 6.
