Polls have closed and the vote counting begins in polling stations in the Senegalese capital. Volunteers open up sealed ballot boxes and start counting the ballot papers from the first round of the country's presidential election. IMAGES
The official collation of votes starts at the International Conference Centre in Abuja. This comes after Nigerians across the country cast their ballots to elect their next President. A total of 72.7 million people with voter identity cards were eligible to cast their ballot in Saturday's polls.
Counting begins in Chad's presidential election at a polling station near the HQ of candidate Succes Masra (number 7) in the Abena district of the capital N'Djamena. Masra is the main rival of junta leader and transitional president Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno, whose family has ruled the country for three decades. IMAGES
